According to the latest guitar world magazine interview with Marty Friedman, Marty says "I have been playing PRS guitars recently and they are wonderful". Marty has some new music coming out in the states soon, he has been living in Japan for years. Glad to hear he is still rockin and with a PRS as well.

Yes, I saw a pic of him with a SC a while ago.

PRS guys if true and possibe--please invite Marty to EXP 2013 (I know he lives in Japan) it would still be cool. He is an amazing player of course, but also a bit of a gear and music nut. Big Ramones fan from back in the day.

Marty's been playing PRS again for about 5 years - what a great player but man, his picking technique is so unique! haha

That was pretty cool. I'm pretty sure I can do that. If I'm feeling froggy I might do it and post it lol

I believe in the same article (or another similar interview), he goes on to say that he's played Jackson, Ibanez, PRS...just about everything out there, and that he doesn't really care who makes the guitar so long as it plays well and works for him. I mean, on some of the last stuff he did with Megadeth (Cryptic Writings and Risk, namely), he was playing a Strat in the studio for a bunch of the guitar solos. When you're that good, and you have that many toys and tools at your disposal, you can play a Pacifica and make it sound like the best guitar out there.

The last time Paul was in Japan, he and Marty played a gig together. I wish I had some video from the show.

Big Marty fan.....Tornado of Souls by Megadeth, if you haven't heard the solo on that one check it out. I couldn't find a decent quality video of Marty playing it, so here's a cover version.

Megadeth is far and away my favorite band. Rust in Peace is my favorite album, ever, by any band, period. The guitar work on that album is what inspired me to pick up a guitar, and the fact that Dave can play that stuff and sing at the same time still completely blows my mind. "Tornado" is one of my favorite tracks off that album, and one of the main riffs I use for warm ups and sound checks...but it only comes in at #2. For me, "Lucretia" is the pinnacle. There is so much guitar goodness in that song, and Marty's guitar solo in that song just drips with feeling. The guy is just...he's amazing.

Marty has a PS 7 string in the works, I can't wait to see what it turns out to be!

Hes such a classy guy, it's a shame he hides in Japan away from us haha

Yup! He's actually used them a lot in the past - I guess he's getting back into them?

Tornado of Souls by Megadeth

The video you posted made me re-evaluate...

I just downloaded tornado of Souls - my first and only Megadeath in the library.

I can't say I like the 'singing' at all. But I love the energy and the solo.

It makes me pose the question - can someone point me to this kind of high energy music with real (not screaming or voice affected) singing?

Cool, didn't realize Marty was a PRS user. Rust in Peace is a classic metal album.

Alter Bridge. Those guys are fantastic, and Myles is (IMHO) the best rock vocalist out there right now:

Marty is originally from Laurel, Maryland. I remember when he played in local bands.

Some of the best metal vocals I have heard to date!

I have been thinking about Alter Bridge and Tremonti ever since the last Experience - thanks for the reminder/push!
