View Full Version : signed PSR value

Good Afternoon to you all!
Our church is having an auction, and we have been taking donations for a month or so...
And guess what has been donated....A PSR CE22 singed by the Dixie chicks and don Henley..(see link for pictures)

It's a small school, and no one knew what it's value was. Since I play, they asked me to check it out..
So I now have a signed PSR in my living room. I plugged it in to see how it played.
After a total tune up I discovered three things.
1) the strings are still stretching leading me to think it has never been tuned once it left the factory.
2) It is in mint condion-basically unplayed, ZERO wear, dings, scratches
3) this thing is AWSOME

Other than the signatures wearing off from getting man handled, I see no issues with it.
It is dirty, covered with paw prints from people (at church probably) handling it. I would clean it up but I am worried about the signatures...they come off real easy
This guitar and case come with some paper work, apparently it was won at a cancer fundraising golf game, donated by the PSR shop.
So the question is: what value should we assign to the guitar?
We give receipts to people that donate for tax purposes.
I am thinking it will bring around $500 dollars. Like i said, it's a small school..i don't think anyone will know what it's really worth. I am going to put in the biggest bid I can afford (silent auction)
But what it brings does not effect what the donation value is...
So what should I tell them?

Your PRS (Not PSR) is a CE22 model. The guitar, itself, sells used for around $1100.

There is no way to know how the signatures will impact value. In some cases, it actually decreases the value of the instrument. But... you've got the Eagles! That's pretty cool.

so if I gave them a value of, say $1500, it should be close.
That's what I will do.
I bet it goes for around $500 tops.
I told the lady in charge to put it on E-bay to get more money for the school, but she just doesn't want to fool with it..
Thanks for your help!

your right! it is the Eagles!
I can make out Joe Walsh, Glenn Fry, and Don Henly
I was told it was the Dixie Chicks...but it looks like it's the Eagles and the D.C.
Holy cow, I need to come up with some money FAST!!!!!

Is anyone else's computer getting a warning about the link in the OP? Getting a "website blocked, malicious content" warning from my government computer.

It's a drop box link. Can you normaly use drop box from your gov computer?

The government has some arbitrary rules governing blocked sites, so I am sure it's just a routine block. I am certain there is nothing malicous about the site...was just wondering if others were getting the same message.

In no way am I casting any aspersions on the OP, or on the website. Good luck with Church auction...hope you win it!!

Keep telling that to yourself, it's okay nobody here will judge you for wanting that CE at a discount.

i play clasical...but it's hard to say 'no' to the Eagles.
Dixie chicks-easy, Eagles...hard, very hard.

And i don't have an electric. What a way to start!

I will let you know what my boss (or his boss) bids...just for curiosity sake.

I am just trying to get the most for the school...

In your 1st post you said this was an auction for your church.

Just a reminder to everyone... no sales discussions.

It's church and school (pre school to 8th grade)
This particular auction if for the school...but we do auctions for the church from time to time as well....i find myself going back and forth all the time...
Sorry if this causes issues.

You're good.

Do you think $1500 is too high, or too low?
Remember: this is for a reciept for the donation to the church/school.
Person making the donation can deduct this from his/her taxes.

As I said, that guitar sells for around $1100 used.

No way to know what the signatures will do to the value.
