Hi, i'm thinking of doing a trade where I lose my 2008 Cu24 and something F branded to pickup a 2012 CU24.
I currently have a 3 way push/pull and love the variety of tones I get out of it but my concern is around the new blade switch sounds, any opinion on the comparison of the two? It's also Wide/Thin and the one i'm looking at is pattern thin, which I believe are similar?
I'm planning on taking mine in and playing it soon but thought I would check with you guys first.
I have a 2011 cu 24 with 5 way bladeswitch. Position 2 & 4 are very straty. Middle position isnt as fat as a typical 3 way middle position but still good. I think the 5909s have a pronounced low midrange tone which I found to be very nice. This has become number 1. I have a mccarty & cu22 both with 3way toggle. I cant get strat tones with those but I cant split bridge by itself on cu24. They all have their strengths. Good luck.

thanks for the info, nice to see that I can still get some nice strat tones from it. Be interesting to try the new pups as I have the older HFS / Vintage bass

I tried an HFS in bridge on my mccarty. Didnt like that at all, seemed to have mids scooped out and it didnt cut through the mix very well. I do sound for other bands when we arent gigging
and one of those bands has a guitar player with an older cu24with HFS/VB and his seems to have alot of mids and cuts through. dont know why.

thanks, I like the tone on my CU24 but would like something a little warmer, which I think the newer pups might give me.
