Craig's post got me thinking: http://prsguitars.com/forum/showthread.php?2688-Tonal-Critiques-PLEASE-!!!!

What's your favorite Van Halen song? Mine is Panama. I know it's not a popular choice for guitar players, but I think the little slow section is just so amazing and melodic. What's your favorite?

This will seem really crazy to some, but I have two VH favorites: "I'll Wait", and "Big Bad Bill is Sweet William Now". They're both so out of character; that's why I dig 'em. Plus, on "Big Bad Bill..." the brothers' dad plays with them, and you can hear that they're all having a great time together.

I always liked Source of Infection. One of the few bright spots guitar wise at least in the Van Hagar era.

Remember the poster that came inside the "Women and children first" album? David Lee Roth chained up to a fence? I always thought it would be funny to photoshop Paul Smith's face onto that. LOL

It was nice knowing you guys, I'm sure I'll be fired Monday morning. :)

I don't think I can pick my favorite Van Halen song..just too many good ones to choose. I will say to anybody who has not bought the new Van Halen, A Different Kinda Truth, buy it..its amazing. The first single off the album, "Tattoo", is the worst song on the cd..shouldn't even be on there! Eddie shreds like never before.

"Why Can't this be Love." In spite of occupying the Roth building, I'm a bigger fan of Sammy's (who I think is one of rock's greatest vocalists).

That's really tough Shawn. I like Panama a lot too, great energy. Unchained is a fave...really heavy. Hot for teacher....man, I don't know. I like Humans Being from Hagar off Twister soundtrack. No way I can pick one and I'm not even a psycho VH freak.

As you requested, Sir...

First is "I'll Wait". To me, this is Alex and his drum tone at its finest. AMAZING tone. Eddie talk(ed) about his 'Brown sound'; Alex has it in spades IMO. Warm, lush, never painful.

Then, "Big Bad Bill Is Sweet William Now". The brothers' dad Jan on clarinet (if I remember the liner notes correctly).

I prefer DLR era VH, especially the Fair Warning album, but my overall favorite is still the song 5150...

I'm The One

I love this tone! It's rip your face off!

BTW...easiest amp I ever dialed this tone In on was a Mesa Single Rec Series I with a 10 Band EQ in the loop as opposed to a Marshall!

Gary is an amazing singer, but most of the songs were written when Ed was completely out of his mind. There are a few real good songs in there, but I think most were over-written. Too many crazy thoughts runnin' thru 'ole Ed's head.

I love "Sinner's Swing".....and about a hundred others. Top Jimmy, also great. I'm the One, yada, yada, yada....

"Hear About it Later" from Fair Warning. Some of Eddie's best playing all in one tune...

I've had Hot For Teacher stuck in my head off and on since New Years when we opened for Van Halen (tribute)

Not at all, I thought that was a great album. Gary had the voice of Sammy and the onstage moves of Dave. My first VH show was a VH3 show, first row right in front of Ed. Awe.some. Opened with "Unchained."
