View Full Version : Need some help: PRS hollowbody 2 identification questions
I recently acquired a 2007 PRS HB2 ten top with piezo. But I realised most of the ten top came with a maple back, but mine didnt it was just mahogany back. And the truss rod cover (http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?p=14758188&posted=1#) didnt have the hollowbody ii initials. It was just a plain trussrod. I still have the original tags which indicates it as a HB2. But according to those issues i mentioned, did i really get a HB2?

Sounds like its a Hollowbody I based on the maple top and mahogany back. Trussrod covers get changes like socks so I dont think that indicates anything.

It's an HB1. Great guitars, by the way, a little different in tone (warmer) from the maple backed versions.
Ok, can I send my guitar serial to prs and have them to ID it?

Yep, Hollowbody I. Hollowbody II has maple top and back.
Btw, an HBII with a 10 designation means both top and back are a 10.
I don't know when they changed the truss rod covers, but they used to just say McCarty, regardless if it was a Spruce, I or II.
