Skitchy, Skitchy, Yah Yah Yah!
The donor... a 25.5" scale 305. Ideal for an 80's Super-Strat Metal machine.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd272/hansomatic/Collection/Raven/IMG00319-20110819-1940.jpg
Skitchy gets to work by plugging the corners of the treble pup:
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd272/hansomatic/Collection/Raven/RavenPlugged.jpg
The routing begins:
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd272/hansomatic/Collection/Raven/RavenBuckerRoute.jpg
And then the Floyd Rose route...
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd272/hansomatic/Collection/Raven/RavenMod.jpg
And then Skitchy adds the nut shelf (snicker) and the thread savers. No bolts through this neck!
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd272/hansomatic/Collection/Raven/Nut_Shelf.jpg
A little paint, black hardware, some pup mods, some electronics wizardry, badda-bing, badda-boom... and here it is.
The Raven!

Thanks! :) PTC Hot-rod 305 Single-coils and a Tremonti in the bridge - which will be replaced with a Deep Dish II later tonight.

I don't think the carve was altered. Feels stock to me.

Oooooooooohhhhh:o:rock:!!!!!! Hot-rod 305 single coils huh? Extra winds? Looks like the pole pieces or whatever the equivalents are on a 305 are exposed? Details?
i can't even begin to imagine how badass this guitar must be....I haven't played a Floyd equipped guitar in.....uhhh...many years...salivating on this one big time!

I gotta leave those details to Shawn, bro. I don't really know beyond the fact that they sound much hotter.

Very nice mods indeed. Not big on Floyd Roses but it works very well on that guitar!
Wow. Killer. I want to send a guitar to the PTC now. Off to hunt for my diamond in the rough.

For this type of guitar, it's got to have a Floyd. Well done, Hans! All you need now to conjure the beast is...a Diezel. \m/

By the way, I just got an Orange Tiny Terror from our very own Sergio deBlanc and I've been ripping it up 80's-style with The Raven for the last hour.
My fingers hurt, my ears are ringing, and the neighbors have looked at my house through their windows twice already.
[Sigh]

Thanks!
This guitar has a lot of low-end heft. I just yanked the Tremonti and dropped in my favorite PRS pickup from the 80's; a Deep Dish 2. It matches the spirit of this instrument perfectly.
It just rips in this guitar and works perfectly with the single-coil combinations Mr. Zimmers cooked up. This guitar + the Tiny Terror I scored from Sergio is a special combination.
I am a happy camper!

I just wanted to bump this thread because I got to play Le' Raven this weekend and I was blown away. The feel, the tone, the beauty - it was all there. We stood upstairs and took guesses when we heard some good tones - "is that an LP?" "Is that a DGT?" "Is that a strat?".... nope, it was the Raven!
