It isn't cocobolo.... but Cocobolo boards can have teh same effect, where they are buffer to an almost perfect smooth surface... very nice.

Whole body.... one block!! Burl is a lot lighter and a lot more porous than regular maple... so I don't think it will sound like a typical all maple...
