Nice job, Jamie. Aren't those I beams, poles and HVAC ducts fun to plan around?? :)
Yeah, they were , um... "challenging"...
When the house was built, no thought was given to where the HVA ran, since finishing the basement wasn't in the plans for the previous owners...

Very cool rooms guys! Love how the OP's project is coming along.
Here is my Room...it's a bonus room. As I've mentioned in other posts my family moved in the beginning of August so it is a work in progress...I only have some of my stuff in so far. I'm standing in an alcove out of the picture in the first two shots where a Drum set is going...either that or a bar. Have to get the TV and the surround sound hooked up. Need to also get some art for the walls. Still don't know where alot of my stuff is...I feel like I'm going to be living out of boxes for the next couple of years...moving is nuts. I did put a crazy alarm system in...freaky to have alot of my gear in one place.

I pretty much had the same problem here. When the house was originally built, I think the basement was only meant for utilities and storage. As a result, between the I-beams, poles, HVAC ducting and 94" clearance between slab and joists, I had lots of compromises to make and wall positions and room shapes were partially dictated to me.
I was determined, for one thing, not to have any exposed infrastructure - especially the poles. So, there are some lower ceilings where the beams and HVAC run and all poles are hidden in walls. When I finish this last room - I'll show some shots of the other rooms.
I think we have a winner!!!
Seriously can't figure out if I want the drums in this room or the basement.... I don't play drums...my brother who lives in an apartment in NYC wants me to put a kit in there...it would be cool I guess... I could probably cram a bar in someplace else...also we have an extra fridge right down that staircase ....all I use it for now is beer....hmmmm.
i guess these are good problems to have!
Great Project!
When we built our new house the Family got a pool, I got THIS:

16x25 music room - I can keep my drums and PA set up and I'm on 2.5 acres with no neighbors on 3 sides - Full VOLUME band practice 24/7! :D Well.... As long as it's cool with the wife! ;) LOL!!!
I miss this space... moved not long after completing it...

I love seeing how people make their gear addictions work! Especially when there is a significant other involved or if you have limited space! (it sure can be tricky...I know this first hand...well that is up until recently now that I have more space) Some awesome rooms posted so far...I guess after seeing some of these I need to get a PA too?
Before the drywall... Insulation!
I'm using R15 here....

Over the insulation goes the vapor barrier...
