How old was RAVI ???
He was born April 7th 1920, so I guess he was 92.
Wow...I remember him getting soundly booed at "The Concert for Bangla Desh"....the crowd was definitely not into his unique virtuosity. they were OK for the first 10-to-15 minutes, then they lost interest and they wanted this guy off the stage so that the "Rock Stars" could perform. Best part of the show....Ringo forgetting the words to "It don't come easy".
When he toured with George Harrison in the early 70s, they played Detroit...Ravi and band were introduced by George, took the stage, and after a minute or two of Ravi and his band working with their instruments, there was a moment of silence and the crowd started cheering and applauding. When the applause died down, Ravi spoke into the mic:
"We were only tuning," said Ravi. "We haven't started to play yet."
The crowd thought that the pause represented the conclusion of the set...and they were applauding to get him off the stage so that George could get started.Quote:
