I have seen some amazing satin finishes that have been glossed and look killer. I have also seen some satin finishes left alone that have faded heavily.

Unfortunately no, the high gloss top coat won't prevent fading. Some colors are prone to fade more than others. I think some shades of Blue are probably on top of the list
