IMO it's all about what you are used to playing. Basically a 24 fret guitar only has two notes that the 22 fret guitar doesn't have so not much of a difference if you really think about it.

Yeah, I used to own a regural JP6... well actually this JPXI is my 4th EBMM JP model. Anyways... the biggest difference in these models are the pickups. I'd trady my JPXI for another PRS any day. :)

I highly recommend you guys to drop those pickups way lower. I did that to my Custom 24 with VB/HFS and it's simply the best guitar I've owned. Balanced ballsy but sparkly. It killed a Suhr Modern...

So are the new pickups better or different sounding than HFS/VB?

This is a very unscientific comparison made by me. In my opinion my Navarro Custom 24 has the edge here.
