Many thanks for the clarification Paul :)
Thanks also to Hans for representing all us consumers :)
All Collection VI/PS Paul's Guitars and anything in the future badged as "chaltecoco pernambuco" are in fact made from just "chaltecoco". This has been confirmed by Shawn here on the forum, and in an...
I must admit, that made me chuckle too!
The one near-front-right looks tasty :)
Sorry Hans - I wasn't trying to get your back up. I'm very angry that this whole 'badging of wood' issue has arisen again after the sinker-gate fiasco and posted carelessly. I got burned with my...
Hans - you make good points about Gibson but they never called something by an existing name. Giving chaltecoco the 'badge' of pernambuco is wrong and designed to mislead.
I have some coal here....
I've just re-read this and I'm a bit shocked. It's very misleading marketing, especially if you're trying to get people to spend many thousands of dollars.
Using the same theory, it's OK to tell...
Many thanks for the clarification, Shawn.
So chaltecoco is NOT pernambuco. Adding it to the name does not make it so.
If the neck of my two pernies were (or indeed are!) made of fence post wood, then I would be INCREDIBLY angry that they were sold to me at great expense as "the wood that $30,000 violin bows are made...
Les,
I have no problem with the pernambuco guitars I own, they're superb. Part of my personal justification for paying their upcharge was that I was getting something rare, and so the upcharge...
Yep, cheers Shawn! Looking forward to your reponse :)
I'm not looking for a trial, I'd just like to see a response to a what was a very straightforward question asked right at the top of this thread here on the offical PRS forum, and in my email to...
Yep, I paid the preium for my Collection V and my PS SC245. On the SC245, it was a ~£900 upcharge.
I don't think I could have justified that to myself for a "fence post" ;)
This is the question isn't it Doc!
I'd certainly like to know what this new stuff is :)
The ME2s were specced as 'Select Dalbergia Neck & Fretboard': “We’ve found a new kind of black rosewood that we’re using for the necks and fretboards,” said Paul
...
Is there no official word from PRS on this? I didn't get a reply to my email to Customer Services, and nothing's been added here.
Shawn?
:dontknow:
I emailed Customer Services a little while ago asking the same question! If I get a response before you do, I'll post it here.
My guitars are all named, and like you Les I'm obsessed with MY guitars - not anyone elses.
I have daydreams at work about getting home and cranking out a few rock n' roll tunes on them...
I'd get someone out front to see how the mix differs between your two cabs - what you and your guys like on stage isn't always what's best out front.
V30s cut through a band mix in a particular...
The latest fret material is very hard, much harder than in the past. In one of the Rules of Tone videos, Paul says he asks his supplier for the hardest fretwire they can make. To my hands, it...
RPs for me - something different...
That would depends on the pickups, and the rosewood neck wood itself :)
I find they have more range - a little more top end and bottom end - with a slight extra emphasis on the low-mid. This can give a slightly 'scooped' sounding effect, but this can be countered by...
I saved up my paper round/Christmas/Birthday money for about a year and bought a 1983 JV Squier Strat in 1989 and I still have it. Unfortunately I'm not a Strat man so I never play it, but I wouldn't...
