I was talking total body thickness, at the output jack BTW. Doesn't really matter now we know what the "M" means!

My CU22 soapy is 34mm total thickness at the output jack, which is less than 1.5" (38mm). Sounds like you have McCarty thickness (which might be what CM means, Custom McCarty?).

Unfortunately I can't tell you the difference (apart from the physical) between the 2 trems. I changed out a bunch of stuff at the same time (pickups etc) so no idea on the effect on tone. It screwed...

They also put the MODCAT sticker on the case (at the end) but if you gig the guitar a lot, it usually comes off. Worth a look anyway :)
