Custom 24 unique wood grain

I ordered this cu 24 in 1993. I was disappointed at first that it wasn't a quilt top,but I soon fell in love with it. The dealer said it was a unique wood grain pattern that reminded him of lace wood. I have been searching for another guitar that looks similar, and have never found one. I have only seen flame or quilt tops. Has anybody else seen a similar pattern? Is this even maple? Does anyone know what I have here? Thanks in advance for any help.

No, probably not maple. If it is lacewood it could be American Sycamore...

I gave that pitch some vibrato, pitches love vibrato.

If it's a stock CU24 then I don't see how it could be anything other than maple. You might have just got one with super crazy rare figuring, so I'd enjoy that fact alone.

I don't normally go in for "fancy" tops, but that may be the coolest looking guitar I have ever seen.

The back and sides are black like they did back in the day. The unstained " binding" is visible though. [IMG][/IMG]

Yeah, it doesn't really look like Maple, but it could be. Maybe someone who knows for sure could chime in on whether they had a lacewood limited run.
