    Pre-Enlightenment

I accidentally started a thread on TGP today about the use of the terms "pre-factory" and "pre-lawsuit" when talking about PRS guitars.

I could use a little help.

    I posted.

Silberman's just being deliberately absurd for the fun of it. As I said in the thread, how is a guitar made in a factory somehow a pre-factory instrument?

I would also like to point out that the main question about any PRS is whether it's Pre-Les (1991).

    Thanks Les.

I just read an awesome NGD post from a guy who asked about the whole pre-factory thing and was annoyed...not at the dude mind you, I am super psyched for him.. but at the continued un-checked proliferation of the term as a selling/buying feature... especially there.

You mean the guitar I've nicknamed "trade-bait"?

I agree with you, and with Hans. It may not be hugely important in the greater scheme of things, yes it's one of life's little details. But either something is true, or it's false.

I mean.... it was an incredible trade deal, makes me think the Easter Bunny and Captain Craigslist still exist, got me all fired up and then instead of pictures my mellow was harshed by pre-factory talk.... The unresolved guitar energy had to go somewhere.

Every time I visit TGP, I end up wondering why I did that to myself.

I like TGP, principally for the recording part of the Forum. I've been on it since day one, because it was an outgrowth of the first PRS Forum (the unofficial one).

But at this point its own success in attracting members has made it sometimes more contentious than necessary.

Sounds like Jon Silverback is prone to use the term "Pre-Factory" quite liberally

Well played, no one has even fought back against that quote yet.

I like TGP's for sale section, but I have basically stopped looking at anything else there.

I was a member in the early days, too. I got fet up with it even back then, left, and came back a couple years later. It is a great place to buy/sell gear, and I ocassionally glean some good info out of the music discussion, but most of the threads are just asinine. I go, I lurk, I shake my head, I leave. Then I do it all over again next time I'm bored.
