Phil Keaggy!!! Wow! I had no idea.
Doyle Dykes has some serious fast fingers. And a frilly jacket.

We camped last night (rained through the night). Camping again tonight (still raining on and off). Random wi-fi with my iPhone so it will be tomorrow night.

Hansomatic = Jeremiah Johnson
Fanboy of the Jester (AKA) James (Previously known as 11top)
Had not yet heard of Joe Robinson, but I just checked him out on Rhapsody, and it turns out he's a great player! The John Mayer comparisons are appropriate, though he's a bit smoother than the amazing John Mayer Trio version of John Mayer...
He's like Johnny Lang had a baby with Bruno Mars, they moved to Australia, raised that baby to be a musician, invented a time machine and sent that baby-now-musician back to the present...
Eric Johnson and Lee Roy Parnell doing Little Wing...
Just amazing! Words really don't capture it.
Makes me want to home and play some guitar.

Copper Mountain, Colorado, is a beautiful little ski resort in Summit County. It sits next to Breckenridge and Vail. This is where Guitar Town is held each year - for FREE!!!
As you walk into the center of town, you can hear the guitars ripping through the valley.
The views from this little bridge will surprise you. Even of you're a Colorado-Boy, like me.
Passing the bridge, the stage will be in fill view.
And for 3 days, you will see and hear some of the best guitar players on the planet.
I like Lee Roy Parnell (live) a LOT. Came home and tried to find some of his studio stuff that was as raw as his live show -- especially his slide guitar! No luck.
I was so ensconced as Phil Keaggy worked his magic with a looper, I totally neglected to snap some pics. In fact, Ionly grabbed a few video clips. His cover of "Here Comes The Sun" will be with me and my daughter for a very long time. That's a special song between us. As Phil (a real gentlemen, by the way) began to play, little miss E-Matic came running over to me from the playground yelling "DADDY DADDY, he's playing Here Comes the Sun!
It was unforgettable.
This was a family event from finish to start. In fact, the playground and mini-golf course was just to the left of the stage so you could watch the acts AND keep a watchful eye on the munchkins.
There were even art activities and drum circles for the kids.
And if you tend to put the active in activity, you could mountain bike, rent a Diggler Scooter, climb the rock tower in the center of town, or event do some high-flying gymnastics.

Here's the back of the stage from the gondola.
I'd like to extend great big "thank you" to Tony Buffalo for inviting me out. His lovely wife and sons were there as well. This was his 8th year supporting the event for GC.
There were some exhibitor booths on some of the side paths between the stage and the lagoon (which had bumper boats). There was also a stellar go cart track set up in one of the big parking lots.
The Taylor Booth
And I am bummed to report this was the ONLY PRS guitar I saw the whole weekend.
Copper Mountain is a beautiful place whether you on the bottom looking up or the top looking down.
The munchkin and I had such an awesome time - it was hard to pack it up and head home. As we crested Wilkerson Pass, we looked back over Summit County and took in the sunset. I sure love Colorado.
See ya next year Guitar Town!!!
