And then... it goes under the knife!

Part of me says "don't touch it, it's how Paul intended" and the other part says "do it, make it a Hansivarius!"
So which side of you is cool with me installing a set of Paul's 28 pickups in it?
One Life
To answer your question, both, it's only a (reversible) pickup swap. It does make me wonder about the differences between those pickups? Both very early 57/08s right?
and the other thing it makes me wonder, who pulled the pickups out of a Paul's 28???
I guess the thing that I'm on the fence about is a refin, and it's a pretty classic caretaker vs owner scenario... man doing that would definitely be an owner move!
Wow, that is a super nice guitar!!! Good match for its new owner...

I never posted in the owner/caretaker thread ... but I will here. There are certain PRS guitars that I would not make non-reversable modifications to. The violin guitar is one of them. So was the Artist III that I used to own as was the Shootout McCarty, for example. You can play the heck out of one of these, respect it as much as possible, and change the pups, but when it is passed on, it should still be a violin guitar. It's just me, but for certain models I would always feel like a caretaker ... and an owner.

You know what, this went through my head as well, and then I thought "well, what's IS a non-reversible modification"? A refin IS reversible, I mean look at the work the PTC did on the '86 swirl...
Who knows, in 100 years time when we're all dead and buried, there might be a thread on the PRS Forum "PTC Project - Violin Guitar Antique White Smokeburst"...
Paul gave 4 loose sets of Paul's 28 pickups to a dealer (Teddy at Make'N Music) at a NAMM show a few years back. Teddy offered a set with the purchase of a PRS guitar. I bought two guitars, Chris Losacco bought one, and I can't recall who got the 4th set. All 4 sets have passed through my hands at some point. I had a buyer for my last set (last week) at $1500. It seems a little fate stepped in. I still have them. So be it.

Damnit... I have an hour to go. But it's there waiting for me!
I know what I'm doing tonight.
It might get loud.
EDIT: The wife just sent me this picture. She like to torture me.
