Lyrics make you think, in the foreground and/or in the background. A cleverly composed cadence can take a series of syllables and rebuild words or meanings...leaving us with an interpretation that is either off or completely wrong. There's nothing funnier that hearing someone singing a song with completely wrong lyrics! My favorite 'perceived' lyrics are from Kurt Cobain where I still hear "don't mosquito my libido", which is much more interesting than "a mosquito, my libido". Heck, I don't know what mosquito-ing a libido is, but it doesn't sound like a bad experience.
Don't get me started on "revved up like a douche, another runner in the night".
