    Yes we do use wooden guide pins to accurately align the top with the back. If I still had that HB cut up that was given away in the No Shave November contest, I'd take a picture of how it looks from a side angle. It just so happens that particular guitar was cut right through one of the guide pins.

    I just went down and snapped this pic of an old HB we have hanging around. You can see the guide pins in the mahogany and the coresponding holes in the maple top.

    What happened to the 3rd one in the back, the blue one? Beautifully finished and inlaid, and cut in half?

    This one was hand-carved and then reverse engineered for the CNC machine. That's why you see all the measurements written on the inside of the top.

    It didn't make the grade for whatever reason and was cut up. Often times, cut ups will be used for finish tests.
