Is this a Brazilian or an IRW top? And is this spalted maple for the body? Anyone heard a maple-bodied guitar before?????

Isnt that going to pretty much kill resonance?
Hey Tag, I thought I learned previously that spalted woods at PRS are SOAKED in cyanoacrylate (super glue), not just coated. As far as resonance, I would think the process would homogenize the properties of the piece of wood, serving to perhaps improve resonance--in essence fortifying the spalted wood's acquired weakness. Makes me think of an acrylic shell drum kit. Those shells are VERY resonant, even punchy with their own personality. I'd be very curious to hear the sound test on this guitar. It's a cornucopia of wood species, that's for sure!

I believe the top is Macassar Ebony. I'm interested in hearing how it sounds as well.

We've made 100% maple guitars in the past. Maple body, maple neck, maple board. If I'm not mistaken, a forum member may have one?

I know Markie has that excellent Santana with an all maple body. I think it had a rosewood neck though, not sure.

I was actually going to say this. I don't know if it will sound better, but since super glue dries pretty hard and not soft I thought it might have the potential to help some resonance. But I'm not sure.

I read this thread as much for Shawn's captions as I do the guitar-porn. It's always fun.

I cant possibly see that being the case, but what do I know? A Super glued body is not what I would want to start off with tonally speaking, that is for sure. It sure looks nice though!
