I'm very sorry to hear this, man. Isn't radial nerve palsy the same thing as "Saturday Night Palsy"? I ask because a few years back, Dave Mustaine (of Megadeth) ended up with Saturday Night Palsy; his docs told him he'd never play the guitar again. He worked hard, through physical and occupational therapy. He's not only made a full recovery, but he contends that he's an even better guitar player now because he had to re-learn everything while starting over.

I guess my point is that, if it is indeed the same condition (and I believe that it is), all hope is not lost! Let me see if I can dig up any info on his recovery regimen, or if he'd be willing to share any info. Hang in there, my axe-brother. You can and will get through this!

I am so sorry...mojo sent your way...I have heard of the condition... my understanding is that it can be from a wide variety of causes...some are more correctible than others ...that said I am no doctor...I believe it depends on what causes it...what did the doctor say? as others have mentioned... Did your Doctor recommend physical and occupational therapy? Did he suggest modifying your daily routine/work conditions etc...?

Bad news, but definitely seek a second opinion -- there may be a way of overcoming it that another doctor knows about.

Damn, Dave. Sorry to hear it. From what I just read there were lots of comments suggesting the possibility of recovery.

    I agree... time for a 2nd opinion.

Dave, sorry to hear that. keep you chin up and play for as long as you can.. sometimes the mind can treat the body.. Get a 2nd opinion from someone who understands musicians.

This is just awful Dave. Get a second opinion, then get a third opinion. Hopefully treatment will be beneficial and/or just a misdiagnosis altogether. Mucho Mojo Mi Amigo....

Got to be tough to hear. Like everyone says, get more opinions, and don't give up your passion til you're forced into it.
