I'm very sorry to hear this, man. Isn't radial nerve palsy the same thing as "Saturday Night Palsy"? I ask because a few years back, Dave Mustaine (of Megadeth) ended up with Saturday Night Palsy; his docs told him he'd never play the guitar again. He worked hard, through physical and occupational therapy. He's not only made a full recovery, but he contends that he's an even better guitar player now because he had to re-learn everything while starting over.
I guess my point is that, if it is indeed the same condition (and I believe that it is), all hope is not lost! Let me see if I can dig up any info on his recovery regimen, or if he'd be willing to share any info. Hang in there, my axe-brother. You can and will get through this!![]()
Never give up! I wish you the best for your health.
I am so sorry...mojo sent your way...I have heard of the condition... my understanding is that it can be from a wide variety of causes...some are more correctible than others ...that said I am no doctor...I believe it depends on what causes it...what did the doctor say? as others have mentioned... Did your Doctor recommend physical and occupational therapy? Did he suggest modifying your daily routine/work conditions etc...?

Bad news, but definitely seek a second opinion -- there may be a way of overcoming it that another doctor knows about.

Damn, Dave. Sorry to hear it. From what I just read there were lots of comments suggesting the possibility of recovery.
I agree... time for a 2nd opinion.

I'm sorry to hear this. Hopefully the condition will improve with treatment.
Dave, sorry to hear that. keep you chin up and play for as long as you can.. sometimes the mind can treat the body.. Get a 2nd opinion from someone who understands musicians.
all the best.

This is just awful Dave. Get a second opinion, then get a third opinion. Hopefully treatment will be beneficial and/or just a misdiagnosis altogether. Mucho Mojo Mi Amigo....
Sorry to hear this Dave. I'll second what others have said and recommend you get a second opinion from a different Doctor. All the best bud.

So sorry to hear about this man! Get as many opinions as you need until you find someone who thinks outside of the box and has an option for you.

Got to be tough to hear. Like everyone says, get more opinions, and don't give up your passion til you're forced into it.
What about slide? Can you play slide?
Mojo sent, hope it works out Dave
