Thread: PRS GAS fulfilled locally or online?

PRS GAS fulfilled locally or online?

For years I've wished that my local dealers had a larger selection of PRS gear. As a result of the sparse and generic offerings found locally, I'm forced to shop online as well as when I travel.

If your local dealer had a larger and/or better selection of PRS products, would you purchase more products locally, and/or more in general?

You know I've TRIED to shop "in person"... there is nothing "local". But even in the "city" I've made the loop and found a poor selection of PRS ( high end guitars in general)... I'm not talking small shops either...My loop is GC Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, West LA, West LA Music(before they closed), McCabe's and Sam Ash Hollywood and any other shops on Sunset...

Now for PRS, I just do an "online tour" of the shops in the banner over on Vintage Rocker.... 10 times the selection and I've have great experiences buying online.

I have one dealer who I support, even though they're not my most local, because they've always had a good range, good deals and I've shopped there for several years. I've been happy to drive the extra hour or so to go there in person, and I have a great relationship with them.

I think once you have established that kind of relationship you're unlikely to change your habits unless someone else really goes the extra mile.

I've developed a great friendship with Jack Gretz over the years, and completely trust his advice, service and product knowledge. It doesn't matter what anyone local to me has.

I have a local GC with a huge PRS selection but it is to comfortable to just browse and play them since they are all high up on a wall behind the desk, and the stories always jammed and loud.

No-one local even stocks PRS, I need to jump on a plane and even then the selection isn't great. It's a whole lot cheaper importing one from the US.

My local dealer has a decent selection of PRS guitars but I would still want to get the exact one I want, color and everything, either way i still feel like I have to order it.

I get all my gear from one shop. They carry PRS and a Bogner so I don't have to go anywhere else. I like that. They aren't local by any means but I feel more akin to their shop than the local shops that stock PRS heavily. Better customer service and they are fun to deal with instead of being stuffy.

I like to buy from real people. Sometimes that means redefining local.
