...........not saying no but that layout on a traditional body would be killer.......or at least not that funky tight control cluster......just my 2 cents

I guess we disagree on what is "inexpensive", some of us are not made of money. I'm used to having to play used or cheap guitars under $300, I was ecstatic when I was able to purchase my SE Custom and case, you see, $850 is quite expensive for a lot of people.

I only suggested something based on an SE model because we were having a difficult time getting the 30 required people to "commit" to a purchase of a guitar in the $2000-$3500 price range that the poll shows would be the preference on price.

Personally, I'd rather see 200 forum members purchase a guitar at a lower price point they can be proud of because of the community it represents instead of seeing 30 people running around with a $3500 community designed guitar that most of that community can't afford.

Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against people with money, if it wasn't for a few of them, I wouldn't have a job, but when it comes down to it:

    200 x $700 = $140,000
    30 x $3500 = $105,000

    Sometimes, less is more.

In my excitement about some other features I missed the "no maple cap" part, but for all hog I've always liked this red.

Of course I've always wanted a goldtop also, but end up being distracted by flames when I have the money in hand. It's all good.

Model Name: 1st Anni Forum Guitar Fixed it for ya
Headstock Design: Hand-signed by Paul (in gold metallic) under nitro finish
Will this be the Santana or Traditional? I prefer Traditional
    3 options:
    1) Color: Natural (Clear), Goldtop with Vintage Mahogany back, Charcoal, *Pearl White, Seafoam Green
*Metal Model pinstripes in choice of pinstripe color (Extra $$$)
Can we take a poll for colors? I'm going Metal, but I think the Trans Red would be a good option on Hog.

I think this revision will get the most votes of any. There are some really cool editions to the build like the certificate. I don't have to say I would be in for this. I am in pretty much regardless of what we do.

You get 200 forum members to agree on a guitar and we'll talk. It still won't be $700 though. SE models require huge amounts of money to get stared due to all the coordination. A run of SEs that small would never get a green light.

I would say yes for Rev 1, 2 AND 3. Like all if them. Will need to take it to PTC to fine tune it to my taste, but I liked all 3 ideas. Lets start voting so we can get them at Experience 2013?!

    * Special headstock overlay - an Eagle with a "Forum Guitar" banner perhaps?

    * Vintage Yellow

Read back most of this thread and from page one this is still my favorite platform, now lets add the new prototype pickups in there......

Hans is right HM. The only way the SE plan has any shot is to buy 'em stock and have PTC mod them. And that probably at least doubles the SE price depending on the mods. Don't know that the number of buyers increases by the number you lose in that case. Wasn't much positive support for the idea. I'm still amazed that after a week the TRC poll only had less than 100 voters for a relatively inexpensive item. This is a guitar. Can't blame people for being particular about what they want for their money.

    REV 3

    Model Name: FG2013
    Base Model: DC22 (22-fret Santana)
    Scale:
    24.5"
    Hardware: Nickel
Body: Solid, 1-piece Mahogany (No maple cap)
    Neck: Firewood (AKA Chaltecoco)
Fretboard: Dark Ebony (polished) with 10 degree radius
Frets: DGT fretwire with hidden fret tangs
Headstock Design: Hand-signed by Paul (in gold metallic) under nitro finish
Truss Rod Cover: Official Forum TRC
Tuners: Phase 3 with ivoroid (cream) buttons to match cream pup rings
Inlay: Birds flying toward headstock in MOP & Paua Heart
    Pickups: Prototype \m/ Humbuckers (Info)
    Control Layout: DC22
Finish: Raw or matte nitro on neck, thin glossy nitro on body
Case: Silhouette (small), like Hollowbody case, in black tolex (Black Paisley is WAY too expensive)
Certificate: Signed by all PRS employees (Like the holiday card)

    3 options:
    1) Color: Natural (Clear), Goldtop with Vintage Mahogany back, Charcoal, *Pearl White, Seafoam Green
*Metal Model pinstripes in choice of pinstripe color (Extra $$$)
    2) Neck Carve: Santana, Pattern Regular, Pattern Thin
    3) Bridge: Regular Tremolo or 2-piece PRS stoptail (no Piezo option)

    Dealer: Your usual PRS pusher
I might be in on something like this. I like pretty much all of those things. I'd have to go play a Santana again(been years) to decide on a neck.

If you did pearl white, would the neck be pearl white with matte finish? or leave the back of the neck natural? Or do it goldtop style with just a pearl white top with natty back? Man, I feel like I need a goldtop, pearl white and natural.

I'd be good with that too. Both my guitars have 59/09's and I want something else. And one's vintage yellow. Different color option, and I'm in.

    Revision "S"

Just think about it one more time.

If you wanted a different color or a flame top you just simply glue a veneer, or paint the backside.
Route it for two humbuckers and make 15 stoptails and 15 trem models.
