I was thinking of a similar idea. The price poll picked up 11 more people in the 1-1.5k range. 30 or so SEs could probably be had from a helpful dealer at a good price, and modded with "Forum" mods at the PTC. Also since it's PTC, those who had deal breakers on pu's and other items could have theirs further customized. But I'm just talking out my @zz because I don't know if PTC would be willing to take on the project, and what would make a "Forum" package, etc.
Whatever everybody comes up with, I plan to do my best to be part of. Rev1,2, 3, or 300.

I really liked rev 2 and the semi hollow body. It's different without being too different. I'm willing to go either way on the scale length. While I'm not sure about the Starla pickups, I could always swap them out later. Depending on the price, I'd like to add a forum guitar to my collection (which my wife thinks is already too large).

    Hans - I have a request -
Can you edit the OP and add the Rev 1 and the Rev 2 (and Rev 3 as it gets tweaked) to the OP please? - It would save a lot of searching....

As for timing, I can't do anything this year on a new guitar. I have a wedding to pay for (my own!) and some other debt to settle. A target date of somewhere in the Summer or Fall of 2014 would be better for me and it might give others some time to put some money away.

Besides - look at how long it takes a company internally to spec a new model and the time frame looks more reasonable given that there are so many more on this particular committee....

Hans - just to be clear, the only reason I wasn't keen on Rev 2 is the pickups. And I really like the Starla pickups. One of the most intriguing things about Rev 1 was that it had a pair of small 408s. Also, I'm very curious about the chaltecoco neck. . All the other specs about Rev 1 were good but the Rev 2 specs are even better.

The more I think about it, I could be up for Rev 2 because I have a set of 53/10s that I think would be stellar in FG22 and I would like the Starlas for my HB II. So I guess I'm saying that I'm in for Rev 2. I'm neutral about the F-hole, semi-hollow, scale length. The one spec I'd really like to stick with is the matte/satin finish on the neck.

Definitely like this. Only thing that would make it better for me is more color options.

I think a more traditional layout with a 5-way blade would be cool too.
    Pos 1: Full neck Humbucker
    Pos 2: Neck single
Pos 3: Power Out Of Phase (The POOP)
    Pos 4: Bridge single
    Pos 5: Full Bridge Humbucker

I guess we disagree on what is "inexpensive", some of us are not made of money. I'm used to having to play used or cheap guitars under $300, I was ecstatic when I was able to purchase my SE Custom and case, you see, $850 is quite expensive for a lot of people.

I only suggested something based on an SE model because we were having a difficult time getting the 30 required people to "commit" to a purchase of a guitar in the $2000-$3500 price range that the poll shows would be the preference on price.

Personally, I'd rather see 200 forum members purchase a guitar at a lower price point they can be proud of because of the community it represents instead of seeing 30 people running around with a $3500 community designed guitar that most of that community can't afford.

Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against people with money, if it wasn't for a few of them, I wouldn't have a job, but when it comes down to it:

    200 x $700 = $140,000
    30 x $3500 = $105,000

    Sometimes, less is more.

In my excitement about some other features I missed the "no maple cap" part, but for all hog I've always liked this red.

Of course I've always wanted a goldtop also, but end up being distracted by flames when I have the money in hand. It's all good.

Will this be the Santana or Traditional? I prefer Traditional

Can we take a poll for colors? I'm going Metal, but I think the Trans Red would be a good option on Hog.

I think this revision will get the most votes of any. There are some really cool editions to the build like the certificate. I don't have to say I would be in for this. I am in pretty much regardless of what we do.

You get 200 forum members to agree on a guitar and we'll talk. It still won't be $700 though. SE models require huge amounts of money to get stared due to all the coordination. A run of SEs that small would never get a green light.
