Paul's personal guitar(s)?

it was in a gig bag (!), no case... and he got it out and just handed it into the crowd to pass around... blew my mind at the time.

He did the same thing with his personal guitar at a CT in-store appearance. He goofed on me for taking my picture with his guitar....

Now that I look at the one I am holding and the one Davey Knowles is playing they look like the same exact guitar.......cool.

Why not a gig bag? Not like Paul's guitar is getting tossed around in the back of a band truck, ya know? And if anything happens to it, he can get it repaired easily enough or just build another. I carry my PS and Collection guitars around in a gig bag a lot of the time.

One show, Paul came up with the Dragon guitar to check out a Budda amp. (which after the show became mine) It sounded great! I remember telling Paul, "if you made production guitars that sounded like THAT, I'd still be playing your guitars." He later told me that the Modern Eagle was based on that guitar.

After that event, I bought three PRS gig bags, that I've been using ever since. All of my hard cases are in boxes in the attic.

Yes, I have been to one of the road shows at Fat Sound Guitars and DG pulled a DGT off the rack and played that. Paul also played a stock ME when it was his turn. I ask because I have one that was once his. I saw an interesting ad on CL once a few states away. It was a Cu22, no case, and a little wear. The price was good for a quilted Cu22 with birds. So I buy it and get it shipped to me. I open the case (I sent him one to ship it back to me in) and there is this beautiful AmberBurst quilted Cu22 with a Brazillian Roswood neck with Paua inlay birds and headstock signature! I pull the pup and look for the MODCAT to get the details ... not there. Just a handwritten note on the sticker in the cavity that said "See Paul". I emailed PRS and asked Matt about the guitar giving him the serial number. His response was that the guitar did not have a MODCAT because it was made for PRSH to take to sales calls and was not in production so it did not have a MODCAT.

So I was wondering how many of these there are, and how long it may have been in service traveling with Paul. It is a 2007. It's the one in the avatar.

I have the one Paul played for part of 2012. I think it was a prototype for the new Paul's Guitar, as well maybe the Collection VI. He brought it to a PRS night last fall at Brian's Guitars in Connecticut and after hearing it I took an interest in it. After several weeks Paul gave in and it was mine. Mine also has a penny neck and the narrow bridge P/U.

Very cool sounding guitar.

To quote Jimmy Buffet, I haven't a clue. But, after seeing a number of Paul's former guitars, much like Donald Trump's wives, there are common traits. Amber stain, nice flame tops, stop tails, etc (I'm referring to the guitars, not the blonds).

And yes, Paul toted this one around in a beat up SE gig bag. Kinda like hiding it in plain sight.

Here is the closest photo I have. I did read a while back that Paul's favorite top wood was Eastern Flame maple w/ a tight flame pattern.

OK, OK, my work computer clearly does not like my visiting this forum.

Photo of my Paul's 408 top. Yeah, I still think of it as 'his'.

So, eastern, european, firewood? What did Paul pick for this one?

Looks like European Maple to me but the growth rings aren't quite as close together as I've seen in the past so I'm not 100%.
