    DIY Studio Monitor Stands By CLCWarlock Part 1

    I needed a set of monitor stands for my new studio and my new Mackie monitors and I had some mdf and speaker box carpet already in the garage so I decided to build me own. Below is a rough outlined process with pics.


    Parts -
    less than a 1/4 sheet of 3/4 mdf
    1-12ft-4inch diameter toilet pipe
    24-Bolts and nuts (6 for each pipe)
    50 lb bag of construction sand
    General purpose pvc pipe glue
    77 spray adhesive (I had some of this left and I used with cement)

    Tools
    Circular saw
    wrenches for the bolts
    razor knife
    Hax Saw to cut pipe
    Cordless drill and Spade bit(if you want to countersink)



    optional
    Textured Paint or speaker box carpet (I didnt use the textured paint but I have seen other do this.)



    MDF Layout Bottom Pieces 12X12 Top Pieces 12X10



    MDF Layout with Saw



    MDF with 4 inch pipe Toilet Flange




    drill and counter sink holes for flange


    drill and counter sink holes for flange with bolts in it

    Covering the floor\bottom Mdf Piece



    Bootom Piece completed with Flange and pipe attached and glued - This is when I filled with sand to bring the resonant Freq of the stand lower.

    Nice job!

    I made my own stands too using Ikea plant pots and carpet tiles. Cheap but fairly effective!

    Thanks guys, just one thing to note I did not glue the top so I could swivel it for positioning.
