It's a pretty cool process, from what I remember they impregnate the part with some sort of conductive solution, then just electroplate like you would with a regular metal part.
It all came about because people wanted lots of bling on the inside of their cars (vents etc)
No reason why you couldn't do a whole guitar and amp in it...

Absolutely, but there's probably someone in the US that can do it too!
Ibanez tried it many years ago with the Satriani JS2 PRM Chromeboy they were notorious for the chrome flaking off, especially on the inside curve of the horns.
