Thanks Shawn, it was also the biggest pain. There are a couple of things I would do a little better next time around... but Hey! It was my first time.

What? This far out of my mind?

I tried to show a couple of places close up that were real tough. Getting the cut outs around the neck was pretty difficult as the fabric is pretty thick, and not printed but embroidered. I am even more impressed by the job the PTC did on Chris' paisley guitar after trying this at home. The overlap you guys did on his cut away is masterfully done and something beyond what I could hope to do my first time, whoever did that job deserves a beer or few!

    Absolutely superb, Sergio!

What did you use to finish the edges of the cloth? flame? glue? varnish?

I was referencing an old Conway Twitty song (trying to be funny) The build looks great man, you should be proud!

    Thanks Bill!

I used an open flame and some superglue in the tough spots, and I Scotch-guarded it as well.

    Thanks. Serg....

After seeing Chris's guitar and this pone by you, I'm seriously trolling for an inexpensive SE and some black paisley embroidered cloth...

I redid the seat covers in my 1970 914 and did the dash in cloth long, long ago. Sadly, that car is long gone.

Word, I'm proud of it for sure!

For the rest of our forum membership: Shawn and the PTC rule.

I hollered at Shawn to make sure it was cool that I was posting a build using Gucci fabric before I started this, and he offered to help in any way he could. Now this really should have been a job for the PTC, and I feel as though I could have asked him to tell me how they did it... and he probably would have... but that would've been cheating in my mind, and way less fun for me.

I had worked in the prop business in my varied careers (music is hard to make a living with sometimes) and have designed and built things for print, television, film, etc. and the amount of openness between competitors (not that I could ever compete with PRS, or want to!) of how they achieve results are most often heavily guarded secrets. There is a big difference between making something look good for a scene or a shot, and making something functional for daily use like the PTC guys do, and I'm stoked at how supportive Shawn has been.

    This place F@#kin' rules.

Do it! Troll deeper and find a guitar you'll really like, I feel so cool with this one that I'm sure it'll get a bunch of playing time.

I'm trolling, baby! My main lessons guitar for years has been an original Santana SE with the slash inlays. I'm watching fort a dark blue one with a stoptail....

EDIT: I'm also seriously considering doing it to the SE semihollow That I put Shawn's #10 pups ion. Those pups are DARK and I'm starting to think the whole guitar needs to be darker - like black paisley. right now it's that darker green with a binding, black sides, back neck and headstock....

Excellent on so many levels. Very well done!

I think the PTC should just hire Sergio into some sort of apprenticeship gig, let this man realize his full mad scientist potential.
