Thanks for that Bill. No worries here. I'm just floating the idea out for discussion. I had a similar idea about doing something dedicated to Grover with the TRC contest, but since my design didn't win I didn't mention it.

I just think it'd be nice to honor these good guys somehow; the details of how and where are secondary to me.

You're a class act, Lloyd. Let's let the dust settle a bit and then I'll be happy to work on some kind of memorial project with you for these guys.

We have some amazing, inventive people here. We'll come up with something special, I'm sure of it.

My work/music/art computer, the one that never sees any social websites or porn, hell it's not even connected to the internet died last night. I'm getting it fixed in the next few days and will be able to retrieve my idea.

    Sorry for the delay.

Know too well how that SUX!
Lost a hard drive myself a few weeks ago. Took about two weeks to get the OS and updates back. Still getting all of my programs back the way I like. Such a pain. Did find a nice program for recovering lost partitions. Partition Find and Mount saved all of my old data, or at least let me see it to know if it was worth rescuing. Good luck.

This is the same G5 that had a hard drive catch on fire (not an exaggeration, It actually was on fire), I think it's only the power supply this time.... A new computer would cut into my guitar funds.

I love the idea of the guitar being auctioned for charity to a cause Bill would have been passionate about and the funds donated in his name maybe.

This way the original idea stays intact with an added meaning and tribute to Bill.

How about having everyone that has the guitar pass through their hands capture some pictures of it in some sort of cool setting - on stage, in the mountains, on the beach, in a large crowd, with a landmark, in a cool car, etc. Then write a sentence or two about the setting for the pictures and add any other details about yourself, PRS, Bill, the forum, bad joke, whatever. Then a photo album could accompany the guitar in the auction - so it comes with a photo journal of it's journey and handlers.

The most important mod it needs is the forum TRC.

Are we changing the impetus of this guitar?

Handing the proceeds over to a charity and saying "This is something we just wanted/needed to do." is different from saying "This is in memory of..."

BOTH are things that need doing. I think that we diminish them by combining them.

    I kinda agree with this.

Bill will most certainly have a place on this guitar though, no doubt about it.

I like the sound of this... Although people would have to be careful not to take the guitar into a setting that could damage it or cause any sigs to be lost. But the photo album thing sounds cool!

I volunteer to buy a photo album that can be packed into whatever box is used for shipping along with the guitar. If the people before me would include prints of their pics up until the time it gets to me, I'll slip them in the book and then send it on.

We should include info on the back of the prints like names and dates and locales. We should also put a max size limit on the prints like 4x5 or 5x7 so more prints will fit in the album.

My suggestion would be Flickr. Just create a new account and set. Only issue with Flickr is that it costs after 200 photos. Not sure about others such as Google's Picasa. Other options are setting up a Facebook page or group...

I'd be happy to post one on one of my websites. I have one for my sleeping graphics company that has some room. People would just need to send me digital versions of their pics with the information I suggested above and I'd make a link for the Forum to see. People with pics would need to contact me via PM for my outside email address.

    EDIT:

Or a separate thread in the Forum? Almost like a diary of the guitars travels, since the posts will be chronological, with pics and commentary. Maybe at the end we may want to put into book form to keep with the guitar.
