    themike missed you all | MEGA-CONTEST OF AWESOME! | 2 of 2 |

So I started a new position at work that has demanded a lot of my time as I got acclimated to it. As would happen to anyone, I was unable to chat with you guys and post on here as much as I would have liked. Oh no, that's terrible- we missed you! I know, thanks! I missed you too.

So to make up for it I am running not one, not six, but TWO contests at the same time to show I care.

Contest 2: PTC me, baby! I want to see a photo of a guitar you sent to the PTC and hear a little bit about it. Did they make it extra special? Fix something that bugged you or just gave it a tune up to turn it into a super duper tone machine! Bonus points will not be given if you suck up to Shawn in the story, but it is completely permitted, and well frankly, encouraged.

The prize? A copy of "The Art of PRS". This is a high quality book that showcases some photos that are stunning enough to capture the tops and creations of the Private Stock department. Definitely a gem of a book and a pretty darn' good prize if I do say so myself. Not for the faint of heart!

1 winner will be chosen by me, randomly. I will put all entry's in a hat and pick a winner to keep it fair as everyone's story is special in its own right. If a person wins one contest, they are not eligible to win the other. If by some chance one person wins both, I will let them pick which one they would prefer, and redraw for the second. This contest is not officially sanctioned by Paul Reed Smith Guitars in any way, shape or form so don't complain and no - the guitars in the photos are not included

I'm glad that the winner will be chosen randomly 'cause my story and level of potential Shawn kiss-assery is unbeatable.

    Niiiice!
If something is too hard to do, then it's not worth doing. You just stick that guitar in the closet next to your short-wave radio, your karate outfit and your unicycle and we'll go inside and watch TV.

OK...thats my Tremonti at PTC after it was re fretted with DGT frets.... play it so much that I was at a PRS day up in Syracuse and Len was there doing free setups for everyone when he told me that my baby needs to come back to the PRS hospital for some work She needed a new nut and the frets were very worn out. I was destroyed...did not want to send my baby out into the hands of those evil box throwing shipping companies lol. So I contacted Shawn at the PTC and started the process. He assured me not to worry, and that artists and folks with private stock guitars do it everyday. We had many emails going over the work, a ding in the headstock, switching the tone and volume around, spraying over Tremonti's signature and re-fretting with DGT frets. Shawn is the man!!! Hooked me up with the price on all the work, posted pictures during the work at the factory, and we even talked via email during the whole process. Shawn even exchanged emails with me on a few sundays on his day off...Shawn is a top notch dude!!! Then he blew my mind...I called him on a Friday to pay for it over the phone and figured I would see my baby some time the next week.....it came the next day on a Saturday....don't know how he did it, but it made for another jaw dropping weekend also...now I have met Paul and he signed it so it will be going back again to get his signature sprayed over as well!

Are you sure that one-off 7 string isn't available?

    Mike rules.

I have never sent anything to PTC. Still waiting for the right project to find me. Good luck all!

Just after I purchased my 2011 Santana at the Experience, I had issues with one of the pickups. I was sure it was a grounding issue. I was down to see Mr. Sewell and asked Shawn to look at the Santana. at that time I asked him to see if the pickups could be split. about an hour or so later, Shawn delivered my Santana to me up in the amp department. he had the pickup in question replaced and also put in a push pull tone pot so I could split the pickups.

Shawn, Len and Stitchy are world class people. thanks,

I bought my SC HB Standard when the free pickup offer was happening. I had played the guitar in the store for months, gravitating to it any time I walked it. It's as bare bones as they come-alll mahogany, moons, no piezo, but just sounded and felt amazing. After debating for quite a while (even before buying the guitar), I called the PTC and left a message. Some guy named Shawn, or something, called me back, and we worked out the details. I bought the guitar and had my local pusher ship it off--it never even came home before heading out to MD.

When it came back, it had 57/08s, and two push/pulls to tap each pickup separately. I love it. When I can justify it, it will be heading back to the PTC for the piezo.

Yu can see the volume knob pulled up in this one. That taps the neck. The tone pot taps the bridge.

Very cool of you Mike. I don't have either of these books, but I've looked through The PRS Book several times in bookstores, and some folks are gonna get some great prizes.

    Good Luck Everybody!

Ah, shucks - I try! Then I insist on you entering at least one of the competitions. You have to have at least ONE guitar you can tell us about :P

I don't really want to enter the contest, but I will share a story.
This guitar was a labour of love - two years from the idea to the wood selection where I was set free in the vault with Tina and a couple of Pauls. Then I had to wait until the Signature run was all finished to get the pickups delivered. I love the guitar.
After playing it a while I came to dislike the interaction between the tone control and the volume - specifically rolling off the tone caused more drop in volume than I liked, especially if the volume level was modest. I'm not an all 10 all the time guy and in fact rarely have anything set to 10.
So I dropped the guitar in Shawn's office during Experience last year. A few days later the guitar is shipped back to me and is spot on. I can turn little knobs all I want and good things happen.

I know how many guitars Shawn deals with regularly and this thread is NOT representing that number haha

    Post your PTC stories kids!
