    Question about Ted McCartys

Hey all. So I am lucky enough to own a Ted McCarty DC245 limited wood from Willcutts. Got it used about a yr ago. It is THE best guitar ever! For me it is everything I ever wanted. Obviously this is a unique specimen because it is from Willcutts. Now here is the question.

I'd like to get a Ted with p90s and I'm just wondering how the quality of tone woods etc would compare (if not a Willcutts LWL) with my current one. IOW, with it have same feel and sustain (obviously taking into account the difference in pups)?

Nearest place to check out a used one is a GC 3 hrs one way from my house. Don't want to waste a day if l'll be disappointed in the end.

    Thanks for your response.

Why don't you get a Willcutts McCarty DC245 Soapbar Wood Library Limited? There's 3 on their site

If they had tremolos, they would have been the best regular production guitar to ever come out of PRS.

Lack of funds. Seems like the used market is really good on these. I've seen them for 1500 compared to new of close to 4k

Every guitar is different. I too have a WWL Ted so I know what you mean.

I've owned a few of the WL and Regular Production Teds. I'd say its probably worth a shot. You are more likely to get a winner with the Wood Library version site unseen but the regular models are usually pretty good.

The quality of the tone woods will be fine. Buy with confidence. The Willcutt Wood library guitars were specially selected but that does not mean the production models are not excellent. Eric from Willcutts would be the first to tell you so as well. You will get a difference in sound with a P90 as opposed to a humbucker--but I imagine the difference is what you are looking for.

Also, the original run had 57/08's in them. Some of the Willcutt WL guitars have 59/09's I believe - if that makes any difference to you.
