If you watch the Bad Company concert that is shown on Palladia frequently, Howard Leese is playing a SC Dragon on stage.

I actually saw Bad Co. live in Camden, NJ last week, and he played several PRSi during the show (one was a green SC, I don't remember the other ones). Great show, BTW.

You were serious about that Marshall. I might have to check one out since we both are Shiva lunatics.

Was the question directed at Private Stock vs Core Lineup? or... Core Lineup vs SE? or.. Any PRS vs Other guitars... there's no way I would gig without a Paul Reed Smith...

Original question was directed toward PS and Artist pkg. type guitars. I agree about gigging with a PRS and usually always bring my trusty Custom 24.

But after seeing that picture of Markie gigging a Dragon, I'm gonna have to rethink things. That's awesome!

I would take a PS to a gig but only under the right conditions. No free for alls, no crowded bar with no stage, no bar in a questionable area. I worry about the guitars and equipment I own now and i'm very careful about leaving things unattended. I have been known to put a cable lock around cases, through handles and around bench seat in my van.

When I do sound for other bands I ALWAYS unload what I don't need so I don't have a trailer sitting in a parking lot with gear in it. Makes for a lot of work and I'm not sure the guys in my band realize what lengths I go to for security.

About a month ago, a guy that used to rent one of my houses was at our gig. He was stupid drunk but having a good time. We went on break and when I left the stage I turned around to go back and get my soda. This guy stumbled on stage, picked up my 10 top cu24 and tried to play it. My heart sunk as I was sure he was going to drop it. I ran to the stage and took it out of his hands!!!!! When I turned around to deal with him, a couple of guys started to escort him out.

My sound guy is his boss. He was told he would be fired if he was caught being that drunk in public again. When I'm done being pissed, I will make him understand how I feel about it.

I do not own any PS or Artist Package (yet) but I am sure once I do, it will be played at any appropriate gigs! What's the point of owning some very special guitars but not playing it out to the public? A while ago when I saw Markie's arsenal in the PS thread, I was thinking "this guy is a serious collector", now I changed my mind. He is a serious guitar player!

Of course only "appropriate" gigs will be worth the risk

I've been waiting for my AP 408 since mid-Feb, and you'd better believe that the instant I get it, it becomes my #1 gigging guitar. Nothing else I own can even remotely compete with that thing. I can't wait to her up on stage!

But do you supply your own chains?

    The Marshall looks very cool!

It does! I would be more concerned about getting that white Marshall cab scuffed, rather than worry about that nice little charcoal guitar in the background...

Markie - I gig my PS guitars all the time. But you gigging a Dragon wins.
You're never too old for tater tots.

Y'know, if you're gonna gig a Dragon, ya gotta get something appropriately cool to wear onstage. Just sayin'.

Well, for one, I buy guitars in order to use them, and that means dings, play wear, and the like.

For another, they're just things and therefore not something I get overly concerned about. (nevertheless, I have a comprehensive policy with my friends @ Heritage, and I recommend anyone with expensive guitars do the same)

Finally, I probably wouldn't choose to play a gig at a place where I had substantial reason to worry about my guitar being stolen.

Things might look a little different if I was a road dog traveling on a bus with a questionable crew. But not that different, I don't think.

Anyway, this is my PS KingsleyDGT in action. You can kinda sorta see the telltale headstock eagle...

most gigs I take two prsi usually a single cut limited brazilian (in recent times) +one other (either ME or, PS) amp wise two carr slant 6vs or one slant and 1 two rock, the bands pa is also mine (2x bose L1 systems and machie mixer) none of this is insured and at uk prices most gigs involve £10,000 of my kit plus the rest of the bands gear, but whats the point of buying it if your not going to use it ?
