We don't have the security issue because my wife isn't going anywhere near a place where it might be questionable.
Good point though, and definitely something I would consider.

If your concerned bout safety try Aruba. Gorgeous island with the nicest people ever. Beaches are to die for and it is always 85 degrees and breezy. My honeymoon was an all inclusive there and it was great, LaCabana resort. We ate and drank like mad and never took out a wallet, even tips are built in.

I don't dig them. Music, authentic food and culture is what travel is about. You don't get that in an all inclusive.

They are unaffectionately referred to as "The Zoo" by locals. You might as well stay in the US IMHO.

I've never been on one but several guys at work do all inclusive trips(some are cruises, some Mexico time share, etc), they're usually pretty happy with them. I'd look at cost difference between one and then one that's not. Money goes damn quick on the daily food/drink stuff. Sometimes it's worth it even if you don't spend 100% time on the included stuff. Can still venture out on a couple excursions and still make the inclusive part worth it I think.
