Prepped up ready for the top. I'll spare you guys the routine as it's the same technique as the Gucci-top... only the finishing work on the edges is gonna be way more involved.
Skip ahead, and this is where I'm at right now.
Ahh.. The cold hard light of day. I went to bed last night thinkin' I had bagged the hottest guitar ever, and then I woke up next to a hag... Well that's a little harsh, maybe not a hag but it still totally needs a little attention, mostly around the edges.
The hard part is that it's vinyl, so while it's easy enough to cut, there is no way to burn the edges like I did o the Gucci fabric. The other hard part is that since the edges of the guitar have been rounded over there is no defined, hard edge to finish. I tried to blend the gap between the vinyl and the guitar with some superglue and then sand it flush, but I'm gonna have to do it a few more times to make it seem a little less janky. I have a little puckering to address too, but I was just amped to slap this together... Bahh! Nothing worthwhile is easy.
It sounds pretty f@ckin' dope though.. Right now it's set up so the mini toggle adds the middle pup to any combo, eventually I'll omit the tone control and make it so that it turns the SE HFS at the bridge into a single coil. Not sure if it's the fact that this is an entirely different guitar than my SE "O" but I'm shocked at how much the G&B HFS sounds like the one in my CE. It's a nice pickup if you like the HFS, which I do.

One thing I did to repair the gap between a veneer top and the original binding was to build up the binding. Melt guitar picks in acetone to make a paste you can use to fill the gap then sand. Plenty of color options of guitar picks to get the match, or mismatch you want.
Or with vinyl, you could use the gold cording that some amp makers put in the seams of guitar amps. It might look really great with the LV fabric as it matches the gold letters.
Plus...more bling! In any case, it would certainly conceal the edge.
The interesting thing about life is that it is utterly preposterous.

I about fell out of bed when I seen this guitar. You sir have vision and a wild abandon.
Would love to see a group photo of the DIMEBAG collection!
