    PRS FIRSTS

Hans thread, "Unicorns," got me thinking. Show your PRS guitar with "first time it was done" features. I'll start with a couple of examples:

First koa neck - notice all you can see is koa. Cut from the top block.

We did this with a cocobolo neck blank that had been drying for years. They thought there might have been another, that might have gone to Europe. This was the first chance to see sapwood on the neck of a guitar rather than on the back of an acoustic.

    Nice stuff, guys!
If something is too hard to do, then it's not worth doing. You just stick that guitar in the closet next to your short-wave radio, your karate outfit and your unicycle and we'll go inside and watch TV.

Outside of some artist relation / weird one-offs, this is (to the best of my knowledge) the first production McCarty with a quilt top; BLE MC #001 of 500 fully loaded with a IRW neck, Royal Blue stain (wasn't available on McCarty's at the time this one was made...so it's an "oops") and a set of split-able PRS #7's in it.

11top, were you the first to do that single PS eagle inlay on the fretboard too?

Yep, and they were the "snakewood twins.". I've always liked to let the wood speak for itself, and I like figured fretboards with no inlays, too. I rarely pay attention to the front of the fretboard while playing (but side dots are another story).

First PRS acoustic with Redwood top (I think first with ebony b&s as well)

    The Second

The Third (left, with 1st). Matches specs with the first except for model.
