Another one of Willie's early radio favorites. This is Ray McKinley. Talk about toe-tappin'! Note: Check out the chick at the 2:00 mark. She looks like one crazy jive kitten who is ready to bust out, Daddy!

Buck Owens would have turned 84 today. He passed away in 2006; doesn't seem that long ago to me for some reason.

The original "Streets of Bakersfield". 'You don't know me, but you don't like me.' I love some of the lines in this song.

One of my faves from Buck; "Big in Vegas". It was a little different for him, which is why I like it so much.

Mr. Les Paul passed away four years ago today. If you are not that familiar with him and his work, you owe it to yourself to learn about him. He was much more than just a name silkscreened on a headstock. Every single one of us owes him a debt.

One of my former guitar students turned me on to them some years ago. I'm not much of a metalhead, but I like Nightwish. Good stuff.

I like Nightwish and have seen them a bunch of times, but there is always too much drama involved with them for me to care much. First it was Tarja (original vocalist) leaving and publically fighting with the band and then it was Anette who kept having "issues" at shows and ending them early.

Their first real hit was actually a Gary Moore cover! haha

Still one of my faves --

I'm a fan though (although I have to admit, that video still cracks me up to this day).

And a bigger fan of the band that's quietly climbing the "female-fronted symphonic prog-rock" pyramid (Tyranny of Hours).

Hmmm... I can tell that's not the album version. But it still rocks. Oh - and the guitarist plays PRS...

Jose Feliciano doing a Tompall Glaser song. It's been covered by a lot of people, but this is one of my favorites.

Thirty-six years ago today The King of Rock & Roll passed away. Thirty-six years. Millions of his fans cried that day, including this one.

His recordings started with these two, made on a lark just so he could hear his own singing voice. Elvis Aron Presley in 1953. He was eighteen.

There are sooo many versions of 'the history of Elvis', but most of them agree that these two songs were recorded in the first half of 1954 during his second trip to the Sun Studio in Memphis. Again, not a serious session; more just a case of him feeling his way along in a 'make-your-own-recording' setting...
