Looking on the bright side, we now have waterfalls in places where we once had ugly old roads. Things are much, much worse north of Denver (Larimer country) than they are here in Colorado Springs & Manitou Springs; which was heavily damaged by flash floods a few weeks back.
I heard some statistics on the radio this morning. Over 17,000 homes have been damaged and over 1,500 completely destroyed. 5 dead. Many people still stranded - being air-lifted to safety. Looks like the sun comes back tomorrow. With all of the rain these last few months, Colorado is quite green and lush right now. More than I've ever seen it before. It's going to be one hell of a colorful fall.
For now... still raining.

I'm really at a loss for words, here. The devastation and loss of life.
Who would have thought that an area that was plagued by drought last year would have this this year. But like Hans said, one let to the other. No trees to hold the soil and water after the fires after the drought.
Stay safe and dry. There is some bad stuff going down
The entrance to "7 Falls" is now the 8th waterfall.
Wow. Hope everyone is safe. Sad to see.
Man, you gonna be alright leavin' for a few days?
Hope you and yours are safe and sound Hans...
Damn - that 7 Falls pic kind of hits home. We visited there when we were out there a few years back, and I vaguely remember that parking lot.
"What do we want?" "Time machines!!!" "When do we want them?" "That's irrelevant!"
Sis dodged a bullet in Louisville. A couple of friends in town where not as lucky.
Here's a blog post from The Chive with some more pics:
