    Paul's Guitar is LOUD

Seriously, my new PG is the loudest electric guitar I have ever heard unplugged.

It's definitely louder and brighter unplugged than any of my other PRSi, which are all trems.

Is it the stoptail? I only ever had one Maryland stoptail before (Mira) and a handful of SE stoptails that passed through my hands, and I don't recall any of them even coming close to this level of volume and sustain.

OR are these things just that damn good?...

I've only played one and it was quite nice. Very loud indeed.

There is just something special about the Paul's Guitars...

Funny you should mention this. I was thinking about heading over to my pal's studio and recording a clip of the PG with a nice condenser mic and tube pre-amp. Then, pan the camera to the output jack to show that the guitar wasn't plugged in.

I would love to try one to see how it compares to my 408's.
The custom bridge is an intersting feature which probably affects the tone as well.

As your attorney, I advise you to purchase one quickly, it's the only way to do a proper comparison...

Agree, my PG is way louder (and livelier) than my 408MT BRW, both unplugged of course.

I stumbled on a used Paul's Guitar the other day. I hesitate to say where, because if one of the Les Pauls I have on ebay sells, I'm going to buy it.

But that thing weighed less than 6 and a half pounds. No Brazilian board, but that whole guitar shook when I played it...just insane resonance. I hope nobody snags her before I raise the funds.

Anyone compared it to a Sig ltd unplugged?

OK, because I was bored (and curious)...

Results w/ Radio Shack SPL meter, C weighted, range=60, approx 1' from meter, as constant of an environment as I can get in my basement, with heavy-but-not-string-breaking strummage =

    408 Brazzy Trem.....66db
    Siggy Trem..............67db
    PG Fixed..................68db

The PG peaked @ 68 a few times, Siggy was very constant @ 67, Brazzy hit 67 once.

So to me the PG sounds louder than it actually measures. It's probably more of a function of the quality of the sound that I just cannot measure in the way that I tried.

Maybe it means nothing...in any event, love them all...
