So I finally snagged a used a Siggy, came earlier this week from the fine folks at Brian's Guitars. Last night I had time to really put it through its paces and I am totally blown away. I know I'm late to the party - but the 408s really are a revelation.
The neck split sounded like a huge Strat through my 30 watt Fuchs combo - easily copping massive, SRV like tones. And the wide-bridge humbucker is just a flame throwing destroyer - the binding on the neck on these guitars is actually very appropriate because if I didn't know better -I would think I was playing a rude, killer 24.5" scale Gibby - including the neck which feels like my R9 with the famed "long neck tenon" - that thing is dense, tight and super-resonant.
And that fact that you can go from full roar, that to that gorgeous acoustic-like tone with the split combos in the middle, is just incredible. Bravo Paul - the 408s really are a leap forward that have thus far exceeded my wildest expectations!
