What is your favorite Tweed amp?

Mine is a Fender Tweed Harvard, love the tone that Steve Cropper got on all the Stax records from Memphis.

blackbear - the HD500 does. It really really does when using it with the DT-25. A little less so when going straight to PA or headphones, but not much.

My AxeFX II is ridiculous for tweed tones also. So much so that I avoid them because I can't do them any justice haha

One observation I've made with my instruments is that the 57/08 pickups + tweed style amps is a match made in heaven! Normally I like single coil pickups in most tweed amps but the 57/08's can go from clean to scream effortlessly with my Victoria amps. The only PRS pickups that haven't bonded with the tweed amps are Artist V pickups, they are very picky and they either immediately sound good or not when you plug them in, end of story. My 305 sounds killer with the tweed amps also and is a great single coil tone.

The Tweed mode on chanell 1 of a Mesa Mark V is very nice.

I think a 2 Chanell "H" with a 4X10 cabinet would also get you there ...

The current Fender Clapton Twinolux has become my favorite tweed amp.

Crank it wide open, touch dynamics like nobodies business.

Narrow Panel - Tweed Super or Deluxe. Can't go wrong either way IMHO.

When ya ned to make a quick getaway, a light compact 40 Watt amp like this can be handy.

Carr Slant 6V - for me tweed equals 6v6s doing their thing and the Carr gives me tweed breakup black face chime or screaming overdrive at the kick of a foot switch and that' before you start playing with the bias options :-)

I just ordered a Marsh Trem-King amp that is a replica of a tweed Vibrolux. When I receive it I'll post a review here on the Forum.

I had a 59 Bassman but it wasn't enough for me so it went and in its place a Tweed Deluxe came along. However, if they were available at the time I would have preferred a 3x10 Tweed Bandmaster - Now Fender has *just* reintroduced it as the 57 Bandmaster..!

The other Tweed amps non-Fender that are more than worthy are the LazyJ amps... Forget those Clapton badged Fenders... too expensive and too technically complex. The essence of a Tweed is in its simplicity and rawness.

I dig my moded Mojotone Tweed Deluxe 5E3 (on the far left).

I built it but then later swapped the stock ceramic Jenson for a Weber Alnico equivalent. I also did all the Mission mods (Paul C and the HB I and II mods) and I'm very happy with the tones. Although after the mods, I guess it's technically closer to a Brownface era circuit not a Tweed but I prefer the response of the amp now with humbuckers, a hint more clean headroom since stock it had almost none. Now it sounds closer to my Dallas II but still has more dirt and that 6V6 crunch in the tone.

I recently bought a Gibson 1956 gold top Les Paul VOS and when I match it with my Tweed Vibrolux the tone is sweet and very dynamic. Something about P90's and the tweed design is magical.
