Design On A Dimebag: Season One Finale.

It's been a year since I got that first box of CE parts that started this whole thing. I was trying to get down to only two electric guitars and wound up with seven! I had just come off of being seriously dumped (IKR? Who would be that stupid?) and found out that the hole in my heart was actually guitar shaped... PRS to the rescue!

So in the spirt of crappy TV shows (and a request to see all the DOAD guitars together) I figured I'd do one of those season finales where they just rehash old footage and call it a new show.

    Looking back at the other threads I started while doing "research" for this one, a few things struck me;
    1. I guess I drink a lot.
    2. I guess I like to work on guitars while drinking a lot (better than being an angry drunk fer sure).
    3. My life f@cking rules!

Whether it's freehand routing a P90 hole with a cheap bottle of tequila, clear-coating a CE in an apartment hallway (sorry old neighbors), spraying glitter paint in my underwear in the middle of the night so I don't ruin my clothes, or meeting a gangbanger in a parking lot to buy a garment bag.... It's been Waaaayyy more fun than just you know... BUYING the guitars you really want, especially if you've got champagne taste and a beer budget... Wait, that's not really a good analogy for me considering my intake of bubbly, but you know what I mean.

    WARNING!
You will probably experience mild blurred vision after looking at my photos, this is normal and to be expected. Equal parts "Red" Mad Dog 20/20 and a brut sparkling in a 22oz glass will remedy the effects.

I traded a gnarly LP Deluxe for this pile.

I forgot about the blue faux-flame maple chips!

Hot boxing in the 200 degree bathroom.

The original, never been topped photo that brought my photography skills to prominence, the aptly titled: "Bigfoot"

Back from the PTC... Best birthday ever. The blurriness in this one was cause I was jumping up an down like a schoolgirl when I took it.

    The leader of the pack.

2006 CE 22 in "Sergio Blanc"
    Diamond Encrusted "S"
    McCarty Treble/Mexi tele
Special "Sergio Carve" neck from the PTC
And a whole ton of love and parts from Hans, Bill, Mike, Eric, Shawn,John, PRS, and the "Official".

This one turned me on to the 22 fret CE's and the absolute need for a single in the neck for me. This is also quite possibly the best sounding guitar I own and the most "Me" in terms of where I'm at guitar wise right now.

Bought this one drunk on eBay, it's still the only time I've been able to do that and have it stick.

    Don't drop it!!!

Gucci has a lifetime warranty. I could've sent this $30 garment bag back to the factory for them to repair it free, and then sold it on eBay and bought a brand new PRS.... Whatever... that wouldn't be any fun!

    Cat.

    Bangin'!

    Matchy-matchy.

    Gucci Top
    Vintage Gucci fabric
    Gibson 490t and SD P-Rail
    USA bridge
This one is my LP. It's like the nicest Gibson LP Custom I've ever owned except it's not a flaming piece of junk. The Tonepros bridge just didn't work for these guitars and the EMG's meant there was no ground wire running to the bridge posts making going passive an extra step, but it's redonkulous how nice this SE is now. I see these old Cantonese's (however you spell it) going for $300 all day in my market, if I wasn't so much of a DC and trem guy I could probably buy two more.

Extra thanks to Hans and Richard for some Bangin'! parts to finish this one off, the generosity of the members here has gone a long way toward deepening my appreciation for the human race..seriously. I am so grateful to have you guys in my life, and humbled to be able to call some of you my friends.

Oh yeah.... I gotta Gucci guitar b!tch!!!!

    The broken one.

Everybody told me not to do it.

What an SE Custom is made of.

    Glitter Bomb!

    Private Schlock

    White girls butt.

    Liberace

    2013 SE Custom 24
    Finished in "Goldschlager et Blanc"
Mira Bass (treble)/GFS Lipstick Treble (bass)
    Sour-switch

It took a long time for me to find a winning pup combination for this one, in the end it was just about flipping the script.. The GFS treble pickup is perfect for the neck position and the Mira bass kills it in the bridge. This is supposed to be a cut rate version of my white CE but really isn't.. The scale length and placement of the neck pickup changes it to more of a Rickenbacker/Danelctro/Superstrat kinda thing.

Seven months later I've still got glitter lingering around my backyard.

End of the month looking on craigslist? Be prepared to say you'll meet them now. $100 or $125? I can't remember.

    Simple headstock repair.

    "Hey! I got an Idea!"

    Buuuurrrrp!

"So Holmes... You live around here?" is usually the first thing you want to hear when buying used luxury goods from somebody off CL in a parking lot.

    Weeks of superglue and sandpaper.

God! Even I have to admit that's pretty fuggin' rad!

No clue on the year of this one but it's a Soapbar II covered in Louis Vuitton... What?

SE VB in the bridge/ SE P90's flipped (bridge in the neck)
Gotoh lockers and that's about it.

The SE Soapy's are retarded-good guitars. I was really on the fence about messing with this one at all until Eric snapped me out of it.. Seriously, tri-tobacco burst wasn't Bangin' enough to take outside of the house, and what's better than two pickups? DUH! THREE!

This one is kinda my "Strat" guitar, only, well.. you know, not. It's smoother but more aggro at the same time if that makes sense, it's also the most comfortable PRS ever! The arm contour combined with the soft corinthian LV leather is sublime. This is hands down the coolest "beater" guitar I've ever had, we're talkin' under $200 here and I'd be proud to rock this on any stage with anybody.

Awesome story: I would work on these whenever I felt like it and often late into the evening after returning home from some newly single guy debauchery.

Well, the night I returned home (tipsy and such) and decided to trim the fabric off the top I did it while laying in bed... I awoke the next morning (haggard) to an Exacto-blade stuck into the side of my finger! Blood pouring out with pieces of Vuitton stuck to my body, I guess I didn't notice that I was sleeping on a pile of dull blades, well dull edges.. The tips were still in great shape let me tell you..

What?! It's not so bad... Other people get violent or suicidal when they're going through a rough patch and hit the bottle. I apparently decorate things when I'm tipsy... It's like I'm part Dudley Moore's "Arthur" and Molly Ringwalds character in Pretty in Pink...

    Hey, I'm not complaining.

I kneel at the altar of your guitar modding awesomeness.
If something is too hard to do, then it's not worth doing. You just stick that guitar in the closet next to your short-wave radio, your karate outfit and your unicycle and we'll go inside and watch TV.
