Ok,well it looks cool to me.The 305 model has it too i see now.

Using scalloping instead of being flat in between the string is an attempt to control the string vibration straight down to the neck in stead of to the sides of the nut and improving the sound. They use it on classical guitars but i doubt if the human ear can hear the difference on an electric...
It looks pretty cool though!..
