Interesting. Maybe the foil is enough to dissipate the charge on its own, then.

Yeah Garrett I don't know how this happens but it seems to happen more in the cold weather like when you get out of your car and touch the door shock but it never happens when it's warm out strang. But seriously I never had a problem grounding the foil although it would seem logical. But I do remember running the foil right up to my tele neck pickup

Thanks for all the responses guys, I appreciate it. I've lurked here for so many years that I was hesitant to post the question because I was afraid I was gonna look like a troll. The one post ***** type thing. I just didn't want to have to take the pick guard off a new guitar and line it with foil, but I think that's what I'll go ahead and do. I don't wanna change the pickups! And I bought the guitar with the full expectation of slapping some 59/09 or HFS or maybe even the Metals in it. Don't want to!

These little S2 Miras sure do sound great, don't they? The only thing I would change is putting on a little mini-toggle to split coils, the push-pull is a P.I.T.A. But these sound phenomenal.

Same here Carl, a toggle would have been so much more functional. Wonder why they switched it, costs maybe?

I have to assume it's less cost, fewer parts, easier to manufacture. Jack H. talked alot about how, with the S2 series, they did not want to compromise on materials, so they focused on being able to reduce the amount of time it takes to make a PRS, in the areas that they could without compromising sound. A toggle might be a personal preference over a push-pull; some folks might prefer a push-pull. Either way, they sound the same, and less parts, a simpler pickguard, faster assembly, etc.

I am thinking about this WAY too much...
