    Arghhhhhh...
Dealer inquired when he was getting his two basses in as he was suppose to get them the 1st of this month.
He was told now the end of the month, more likely September.

So what happened to the ones that shipped?
UK got some, and Sam Ash got some, not even Sweetwater got any of the first shipment.
His contact said Ash did not get any, but Ash shows inventory on them.
West coast is last to get them I guess, and my dealer put the order in once they were announced.

Here in deepest darkest Africa, my bassist picked up the SE Kestrel in Black this weekend, incredibly well constructed, sounds amazing. not sure if it's a thing, but the tone pot was a bit iffy nothing a quick solder wont fix. Overall seriously impressed.

Cool, glad you guy's were impressed.
Did you get to play it too?
I know many were concerned with the neck radius.

I still need to take my 2012 SE Santana into my dealer for a free fix, as the toggle in the upper position makes the guitar play at half volume, so it is defective.
It was that way when I got it, hope the bass gets checked good at QC for this type of thing.

They are a great dealer and do fantastic setups, and Paul even visits the store.
It is just bad luck that my dealer is one of the last to get stuff in which he has no control over.
Remember it took three attempts to get me my 2012 SE Tremonti Custom, but the SE Santana and SE Custom 24 came in pretty quick.

Yeah, he placed my order the very next day by phone (PRS was already closed) after this thread here was started, and he got my order in pretty quick.
It is just that PRS sends stuff out at different rates.
Not even Sweetwater has them in yet, and they are kind of clueless when they will arrive.
I think PRS just sent out all they had, and I have to wait for the next slow boat.

Next guitar though I think I may try one of the vendors here, but it will have to be one they have in stock.

I spent some time with it this weekend. The neck was fine, not sure what the issue is that people were mentioning. easy playing, factory setup was superb, I found it a joy to play. The pot issue seems was a cable issue and not a tone pit issue. I have to say that for the money it is one of the best basses available, in fact it's better constructed than some much more expensive models.

That is good to hear that you think it is well constructed and plays well.
Now I just need to get my hands on one.

I went to my local dealer today looking at guitars and saw these. I spent about 5 minutes with each unplugged. I'm definitely gonna get a Kestrel!

So why the Kestrel over the Kingfisher? Always curious about preferences with such things...

It just felt more comfortable to me honestly. Would honestly like to have one of each which I may eventually get.

Well...For kicks I called up Sweetwater since they show that they are coming in any day now, and my contact there said they had one in earlier, but it was defective, it slipped by QC he said.
I asked him when the next batch was due since their site shows any day now, and he told me it has been pushed back until the end of September.
    What is going on?

Called me dealer to let him know about the next shipment coming in at Sweetwater at the end of September, and he said he would call today or Monday to try and find out more info on mine.
I would probably get one faster elsewhere if I canceled mine, but he already has the case for me and ordered in the EB Cobalts in the correct size, and I like supporting the local small mom and pop shop.
    But next time...

I swung into Brian's Guitar's for just a few minutes today and he has both basses in stock. I picked up the Kestrel and did not plug in but it looked and felt great. Action was low and buzz free and the neck felt great. Not Jazz thin and not Precision chubby, just right. Hardware was good looking and appeared to be high end spec. I could see myself grabbing one easily. Also want to mention the candy apple red is really nice in person.

I wonder how these dealers are getting theirs in since my dealer put his order in pronto.
This may push me to buy my next one online.
Probably order quantity or dealer rank in sales - just a guess though. Im excited to see peoples reactions to them as Ive heard nothing but good things!

If that is the way it goes, then no wonder it takes my dealer to get his in.
They are just a small shop, not big like Sweetwater or the online vendors here.
It should be first come first serve.

Looks like Sweetwater is not going to have them for a long time as I stated earlier, they updated their page today.
Will be lucky to get mine before Christmas

My dealer got back to me, mine should ship by the end of the month, so I may see it the second week of September.
Also the American Hipshot D tuner will fit, but the peg hold will need to be reamed out some.
Dealer is ordering the part for me, and will install it when the Kingfisher flies in.
