Matt Scannell Delivers A Beautiful Tribute for the Johns Hopkins Medicine Community
Posted Apr 27, 2020
Hoping to inspire and send some positivity to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Johns Hopkins Medicine, Matt Scannell from the band Vertical Horizon delivered a personal video tribute to the medical community this week. The video starts with a heart-felt thank you to those at Hopkins on the front lines combatting COVID-19 and their tireless efforts dealing with increasingly challenging conditions.
“Our job is to just stay home to flatten the curve, and you all have to wake up every morning and get back there on the front line. We’re so thankful to all of you as you try to keep us healthy,” Scannell states in the video message. “So, I’m going to sing you a song. This is a song called “Song for Someone” which I wrote for a soldier in Kuwait, but what I’ve realized over time is that it is actually a song for all of us: particularly those on the front line.”
Scannell then delivers the uplifting, heartfelt lyrics while accompanying himself on a beautiful silver sparkle PRS Hollowbody guitar.

For over two decades, the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center has been the principal charity for our company and we've raised over $4M in support of the Center.
Scannell’s video has been shared with thousands of doctors, nurses and healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
