The Making of the Dallas Mavericks Playoff and Championship Guitars

Long-time PRS player and current PRS Featured Artist for the month of June, Justin Lyons, has just wrapped up his stint performing for the Dallas Mavericks during the NBA playoffs and championship finals. Starting off as an invitation for a standard performance of the National Anthem, the gig ultimately evolved into an opportunity for Justin to reimagine the Mavericks’ intro song, The Who’s classic track “Eminence Front.”

Each game of the series kicked off with Justin performing his rendition center court, and along for the ride, a pair of customized Custom 24s. The instruments, wrapped and modified by Wicks Guitar Shop of Ft. Worth, Texas, were outfitted with unique Maverick’s graphics wraps - one for the playoffs and a second for the championship round. Both were re-wired with “super switches.”

“I love working with Justin. The quality of PRS guitars makes my job much easier. The challenges are always the timeframe when it comes to crunch time. To me, it will never get old, and I’ve been doing this a long time. Such a privilege to work with good wood and fantastic talent.” – Chadwick “Wick” Clifford
